F5 Reboot

I am supposed to reboot a load balancer pair using "full_box_reboot". I was gonna reboot the standby box first and then interchange Active Standby boxes to reboot the active box (which is now standby) and then switch back.

I am not sure how to change the active box to standby abd vice versa. Please advise and also any tips on this procedure will be helpful

  • Hi,

Using the webui, you can force the active unit to standby by following the below procedure :

    • Go to the webui of the active unit
    • Go to Device Management >> Devices
    • Select your actual active unit
    • press "Force to standby" button
    • press "OK" when the webui prompt you for a popup asking : "Force this device to standby ?"

Your active unit should switch to standby. Pay attention that the "auto fallback" is disabled in the device group. Otherwise, the newly standby unit will come back to active state.

So If i use the "force to standby" button on the active box, it becomes the standby box So it means the previously standby box WILL turn to active right?
