XC cloud - fleet
Hi,
I am trying to learn XC stuff, going through video and other stuff and I noticed that there is so called Fleets being used to connect 2 multiple sites together. I understand it to be a bucket where I put my CE (customer edge) into.
But why is it marked as Legacy and what is its successor? XC documentation would deserve some refresh, I understand XC has been evolving, but it is quite obvious that those learn video should be updated as well...
Yes fleets will soon be removed as the next step was Secure Mesh sites (Create Secure Mesh Site | F5 Distributed Cloud Technical Knowledge) and now it is Secure Mesh sites v2 (Create Secure Mesh Site v2 | F5 Distributed Cloud Technical Knowledge).
So the history order is Fleet > SMS > SMSv2 , so use SMSv2 CE as you will have to migrate to it sooner or later. I know XC is constantly changing stuff 😄 Migrate Legacy CE Sites to New Secure Mesh v2 | F5 Distributed Cloud Technical Knowledge
Also to unite multiple CE sites ( a CE site could be 1 CE or even 3 master CE in HA and there could be many worker CE as well making up the site) a virtual site is used to group the CE sites not fleet as fleet is just used to attach standard configuration to the CE site but it should not be used anymore. You can even group 2 standalone CE sites in sort of HA but suggest first having strong understanding of XC before going there, so this is just for info: Create Two Node HA Infrastructure for Load Balancing Using Virtual Sites with Customer Edges | F5 Distributed Cloud Technical Knowledge

Thank you, do you know why fleet is not used anymore, what replaced it?
As you wrote "fleet is just used to attach standard configuration to the CE site", it seemed useful to me..
Thx
As I mentioned SecureMesh V2. Please see the links I provided to you. You configure the Secure Mesh V2 and the XC CE takes it's config from there, when it registers with the F5 Distributed Cloud.
