LCD stuck in "Updating Firmware"

Hi, f5 guys,

I updated f5 i5800 before several days from 12.1.2 to 13.1.1.2, and on the LCD I see a message:

Updating Firmware

This can take up to 30 minutes...

Please do not interrupt!

It's like there is an issue with the LCD.

I can access the device through SSH, but can not see anything related in the logs. The display doesn't allow any touch activities...

I tried to check what is the problem here (in DevCentral) and find a proposal to restart service "fpdd" (as I understood this is "Front Panel Display Daemon"), but there is no such service:

[root@F5-BIGIP-Host-1:Active:Standalone] config tmsh show sys service | grep fpdd
 [root@F5-BIGIP-Host-1:Active:Standalone] config

I perused all the services, but didn't find anything known to me...

Any ideas about this behavior?

.

.

Regards,

Preslav

  • Guys, anyone think the solution of this problem?

    I have 3 F5 2800 with this problem.

  • In this situation, I'd open a support ticket with F5. That being said, from your SSH access does it appear to have completed the upgrade? Can you login as admin via a browser?

  • Hi, Alan,

Via SSH and HTTPS (through a browser as admin) the access is ok, and yes, the upgrade seems completed, everything is normal except the front panel LCD - it's stuck, and there is no change for several days...

I am wondering how to fix the LCD issue.

  • Yes, Alan,

    I executed:

    for i in 0 1 2 3 4 5; do lcdwarn -c "${i}" 0; done

    and there is no change...

For the reboot I want to be sure that will no failed. .

  • In that case, I'd open a support ticket with F5 since it sounds like you've done everything you can at this point. Let us know what happens, good luck! =)
