Issue with possible conenction not dropping between requests for device
Here is the scenario Start with 2 Welch Allyn devices, device A and device B Start with two facilities, Facility 1 and Facility 2 flow is: Device -> F5 -> WebSphere App Server -> F5 -> Device
Facility 1 was the first to go live with NewApp. Device A, set up with a Facility 1 patient, was directed through a virtual IP (VIP) on the F5 LTM. It works fine.
Facility 2 was preparing to go live with NewApp. Device B was set up for Facility 2 patient and pointed to the VIP. Login works, patient scans do not return patient demographics. (at this point Device A still works with Facility 1 patients)
As a troubleshooting step, we created the same VIP for a dev domain.
Application support took a device, set it up with Facility 2 patient first, pointed it at the DEV VIP, it worked. Application support took another seperate device, set it up with Facility 1 patient, login worked, scan patient – no demographic info returns.
If any device is pointed directly at the WAS server (DEV or PROD) it works every time, regardless of Patient Facility. This really seems to point a finger at F5. This leads us to believe that whatever facility goes through the F5 first, works – but after - ONLY that first facilities patients will work.
Also these devices (Welch Allyn Barcode scanner) can only point to an IP address so we are eliminating the use of a WIP(GTM) for this application.
Thanks.

Check to make sure you have OneConnect disabled. I have seen it cause similar issues.

I would say this also depends on the iRule and/or HTTP class used to flip traffic between the pools. Can you share your config? Do you have any "match across virtual" persistence settings?
