I want to bring a Forced Offline LTM to Forced Standby state.

Hi,

I want to bring an LTM to Forced standby state which is at present kept in forced offline state. I am planning to first make the active Unit as force Active then make the Forced Offline device as standalone, do a force sync froma ctive and then make the unit as force standby. Could anyone help me with the steps as to how to proceed.

  • bit confusing, why don't you do a numbered list of what you want and refer to the units as LB1 and LB2. Also if the platform is Viprion and the F5s in question are vCMP then the offline behaviour will be different, so let us know the platform and software version also.

    i.e.

    1. Initial State LB1 Active, LB2 Offline, both units in sync
    2. ...

    cheers

  • So this is not on Viprion platform. Its an HA pair running on 11.4.1 version. 1. LB1 and LB2 are HA pairs 2. Version 11.4.1 3.LB1 is Active currently and LB2 was made Forced offline so that it doesnt take traffic( we did that for some maintenance work0 4. Now we want to make LB2 as Forced Standby and ensure that configs are synced from LB1 . What steps I should follow for that. We dont want any traffic impact ..

  • It should remain standby if you take it offline mode, given that you are 100% sure that HA communication is intact between Lb1 & Lb2.

  • what skfads said as long as auto fallback is not enabled in the traffic group.
