Two Monitors & Logging

Hello,

I have two monitors applied to a web server (Apache). The first monitor is the standard TCP Half Open which targets the apache port 80, the second custom monitor targets the corresponding app servers and performs a tcp half open to that server. we require both monitors to be successful or the pool member is marked down.

However when the custom monitor for the app server fails we dont see this in the /var/log/ltm file. Do I need to add custom alerts for each one of the custom monitors I have ?

If it logged which monitor failed it would cut-down troubleshooting time !

  • Thanks for sending that link Nathan.

The issue is that when two monitors are applied to a specific pool member and the pool member goes down because one of the two monitor failed the LTM doesn't log which monitor failed just that the pool member is down. I can of course review our packet recording device to figure out which monitor failed but that takes some time. It would be nice if this could be logged
