Migration from 4000s to 2000s

Hi All,

We are planning to replace 4000s with 2000s. During migration can I just create ucs from 4000s and upload to 2000s? Will this work?

Thanks.

  • No. For migrating between platforms I would recommend setting up the new system with base configuration(Activating License, Hostname, etc) then adding it to the device cluster and device groups as necessary to sync the remainder of the configuration. This is the most reliable way to migrate configuration.

Hi Jhaas, thanks for your answer. so once I configure 2000s with base config i.e. self IP, vlan and floating IP so what should be best approach here? Do I need to copy bigip.conf, cert and key from 4000s to 2000s and reload?

      Thanks.

Assigned ip address & hostname to device, activated license, imported UCS &

      load sys ucs YourUcsFile.ucs no-platform-check no-license
with these commands. Crt & key will be there in ucs if attached with Profile.

No need to copy bigip.conf. plz check the logs.

  • Hi,

to restore a UCS file on a new platform, you must restore it from tmsh.

    1. upload file on the new appliance with WebUI
    2. execute the following command on the new appliance:

      load sys ucs YourUcsFile.ucs no-platform-check no-license
