Oct 09, 2013Under System -> High Availability -> HA Group, do you have any values set for Active Bonus on either unit?

yes. Active bonus on Primary device is 50 while on secondary its 0 - Cory_50405Oct 09, 2013

Change primary to 0 and secondary to 1 and see if this fixes your problem. HA Group config from your primary LTM needs to match that of the secondary LTM. These configuration items do not get synchronized between peers. - Kashif_01_13494Oct 10, 2013

Cory, thanks but having exactly the same weight on both primary and secondary forces the secondary to takeover as Active due to Active Bonus value of 1. Current Config on Primary PRIMARY Device --------------------------- Sys::HA Group: LAN-Failover --------------------------- State enabled Active Bonus 0 Score 100 ------------------------------------------ | Sys::HA Group Trunk: LAN-Failover:Trunk1 ------------------------------------------ | Threshold 1 | Percent Up 100 | Weight 50 | Score Contribution 50 ------------------------------------------ | Sys::HA Group Trunk: LAN-Failover:Trunk2 ------------------------------------------ | Threshold 1 | Percent Up 100 | Weight 50 | Score Contribution 50 Secondary Device ( took over active role due to active bonus value of 1) --------------------------- Sys::HA Group: LAN-Failover --------------------------- State enabled Active Bonus 1 Score 101 ------------------------------------------ | Sys::HA Group Trunk: LAN-Failover:Trunk1 ------------------------------------------ | Threshold 1 | Percent Up 100 | Weight 50 | Score Contribution 50 ------------------------------------------ | Sys::HA Group Trunk: LAN-Failover:Trunk2 ------------------------------------------ | Threshold 1 | Percent Up 100 | Weight 50 | Score Contribution 50 - Cory_50405Oct 10, 2013

I didn't mean for you to change the weight to 0 and 1, I meant to change the active bonus. Primary is 0 and secondary is 1 in our environment, and the failover behavior is exactly as you seek. Secondary remains active until we manually fail it back. - Kashif_01_13494Oct 10, 2013

yes thats what i did. I changed Active Bonus to 0 on Primary and 1 on Secondary. No change on the weight values on either of the devices. thanks
