GTM Move servers / pools to a new DC
Hi Guys, Anyone know of an easy way to move a server and pool to a new data center without having to re-create everything? It can probably be done from the command line somehow, but just wondering if anyone has done this before?

ideally you would have both configs already defined in each DC in the LTMs
then you just use GTM to respond with the data centre which is up and working properly at any give time.
GTM is just an intelligent dns server... so it needs to respond with some IP (LTM VIP in any data centre in the mix).
thx

not all the servers are LTMs. Some have been placed into the wrong DC on the GTM. I need to move them to the correct DC.
I need to keep the same IP and name on the server, so I can't define a new server on the GTM with the same name / IP.
in the bigip_gtm.conf file it looks like there is only one place where the data centere is defined for servers. I should just be able to change it there and it should be ok.

what are the other servers involved vs. ltm?
This is a more complicated case then I've dealt with but I'd like to help if I can.
cheers

Just some generic hosts. I have already tested it on a few and it seems to work quite well

i see, ok.... but is IP staying the same that important, or are you dealing with some caching clients, etc..?
thx

Yes IP staying the same is very important. If IP changes then I need to change NATs and security policies on firewalls
