First thing to check, make sure you can ping, or at least telnet to the IIS server ports (443,80) from your F5 device to make sure you have a route setup on that same network.

 

Secondly, make sure you have a healthcheck associated to the Pool, without a healthcheck enabled you will get the "Unknown" status.. just giving a place to start.
