F5-3900
Hi All,
We have few units of F5-3900 and just want to ask few queries below.
• What is the maximum request that can be handled by one Virtual Server Created in F5-3900. As per our last diameter configuration each call is routed to single virtual server so what is the maximum number of request that a Virtual Server can handle.
• We have created Pool Member. Hence what is the maximum number Pool Member that we can create.
• What is the definition of the number of connection in CONNECTION - ‘Current’ and ‘Maximum’ column?
• Does the connection means number of request, Number of session, or number of call from HW SCP?
• Under what situation the number of connection ‘Current’ from 1 will change to 2, 3 or more connections?
• Why the number of Bits & Packets are also very consistent? If some connection has more requests/sessions we should expect higher Bits & Packets in some processors right?
Best Regards,
Bikash

See here for the overall specification: http://www.f5.com/pdf/products/big-ip-platforms-datasheet.pdf. In answer to your specific questions;
1) VS max requests: Somewhere between 100k to 400k depending on what type etc.
2) Max pool members: effectively unlimited (limited only by memory and CPU resources)
3) Connections: I'm not sure quite where you're looking but I would expect this to be individual IP connections (but it will depend on where you are looking) - the maximum will be the highest number of connections since the stats were last reset
4) Current Connections: This will increase and decrease based on the number of connections accepted and processed
5) Bits/Packets Consistent: Again, where are you looking? - Bikash_123293

Hi Steven,
Many thanks for your help for Step 1 and 2.
For other three step (Step 3, 4 and 5) I was loking at Local Traffic -> Pool -> Pool List -> Statistics.
I connected my SCP output to my F5 input creating 18 Pool Member, I can see almost 18-20 Current Connection. Secondly when I reduced the Pool Member to 2 I can see only 2-3 Current Connection with the same input traffic in same pattern. Almost the same things happen with Maximum Connections and Total Connections.
What is the maximum number of connection handled by each Pool Member?

Do you have OneConnect configured? That could explain it. - Bikash_123293

Hi Steve,
Yes, this is OneConnect configured. I want to know Bits (In, Out); Packets (In, Out); Connections (Current, Maximum and Total); Request (Total) and Request Queue (Depth, Maxmium Age). Really will be thankful for the details.

Hi Steve,
Can I know what does Current Connection and Concurrent Connection (Maximum) differentiate.
What does Total Connection denotes.

OK, so if my understanding is correct;
1) Current Connections - the number of current connections (at the present time)
2) Concurrent Connections (Maximum) - the highest number of concurrent connections ever seen (since reboot or last stats reset)
3) Total Connections - the total number of all connections dealt with since reboot or last stats reset - Bikash_123293

Hi,
Many thanks for the same. So for Current Connection: Can we say that the highest number of connection appears at any any time.

Bikash

Current Connections is the number of current/active connections (not a maximum).

Hi Steve,
Many thanks for your kind reply and help. My query is been resolved, I am not able to get the drop down menu for resolve. Can you help me to guide or help me to mark as resolved.

Great. There should be a drop-down near top right, just below the printer and envelope icons.
