I am new to F5's, I was just handed an F5 3900 by my director and was told to upgrade the firmware from 10.2 to 11.2. What is the easiest way to do this?

Nice. I assume it's not a live device then?
1) So, go to downloads.f5.com and pull down the image you need. You'll need to register if you haven't already.
2) Upload the image to the device using menu path: : System > Software Management > Image List
3) Once it's uploaded you should be able to install the new image to any volume other than the currently live one, the steps in the GUI should be obvious
Note you will probably need to reactivate the license on the device before you'll be able to upgrade it, or before you can use it. You'll need an active support contract on the device as well, or the last one must have expired after 11.2 was released.
If you need help just connecting to the device's management interface, just say. - nitass
