Display object names in bigip configuration utility

I have 4ea. Big IP units running 4.5.14 code.

 

 

I want to see the names of our systems rather than the ip addresses.

 

 

On one of the 4 units, I added an entry at the end of /etc/hosts and the web ui picked it up immediately.

 

 

On the other 3 units, the OS knows about them as in "ping " but in the configuration utility it only shows the dotted decimal numbers.

 

 

I checked the irs.conf file and made sure it's using the same settings (hosts local).

 

 

Am I missing something basic?

    Turns out I was missing something basic. Under System Admin -> Web UI -> checkbox "use hostnames when possible".

     

     

    Problem solved ... I didn't figure it out, F5 support did.
