F5 HA status change reason

Is there a way how to find a reason why HA status was changed on F5 boxes ? Couldnt find nothing in the logs.

  • Look for sod entries in the ltm log. When the unit goes to active or standby it will log this fact. You may need to look at the entries immediately preceeding the active/standby message. Also look on the peer unit for the same thing, as sometimes the peer will hold the key to a failover. You also may wish to look at the ha table to see if something has moved to fail.

Failing all that, take a qkview and open a support case.

  • Hi xMadi,

you may also lookup /var/core/ for core dumps (both units).

Make sure to save the whole /var/log/ directory of both machines of your sync-failover device group to an external resource as log rotation will remove previous logs older than 10 days.

If you cannnot find anything in the logs I would recommend to pull a qkview and to open a ticket with F5 support.

    Cheers, Stephan

Check if there is any interface flaps, also check which one initiated the failover.
