WideIP with multiple pools or pool with multiple members?

When would you create a wideip with multiple pools rather than a pool with multiple members?

I can see the benefit of having a GTM pool with multiple members: you have many more load balancing methods available in a pool, but can't think of any reason to have multiple pools.
