Using The F5 GTM to failover between sites
Hi All,
I have two sites - London and Uxbridge. In either sites i have an F5 GTM in place which is not being used at all. Can i in any way use this F5 GTM to perform a failover for traffic? For example, let's say my perimeter WAN firewall in London fails. Is there a way then to move the traffic to Uxbridge?
Thanks!
Ramesh

You can use these GTMs as DNS for the applications/services hosted on the two sites. You can use Global Avilability as the load balancing mechanism and give London as the primary.
When the perimeter WAN firewall goes down it would cause the GTM to detech that the London application server is not reachable and fails over to Uxbridge site.

Hi Jeevan thanks for that. It's just that we're not using that GTM to do any load balancing at all. It was initially setup to load balance a few servers, but then the customer decided against it. So it's doing pretty much nothing right now. So was wondering if without having to do any DNS resolution for any application, is it possible to use this GTM (it does have an LTM license as well) perform a failover in case one firewall fails? - rameshr_132303

I'm being told that the GTM could monitor my perimeter firewalls and then advertise a default route to the Perimeter router via BGP. If either of the firewalls stop working the route could be withdrawn. Can anyone explain this to me? And how can i achieve this? This is a GTM box with LTM license as well
