Upgrade vCMP Guests(HA) from v11.3 to v12.1.2
Greetings people,
I'm starting to plan on upgrading one of our vCMP Guests [Production F5's(HA Pair)] from v11.3.0 to v12.1.2. I need some assistance on risks involved or any precautions. Please see below procedure.
Before upgrade:
-
Backup .ucs and uplaod a qkview file onto ihealth site.
-
Re-activate license on Host machines.
We do have active service contract with F5.
Actual Upgrade Procedure:
- Download both Base iso image and hotfix files.
-
Upload them on to the standby F5.
-
Install Base image file and then install the Hotfix file.
-
Go to boot locations and select the new boot location where above images are installed and activate.
Question here,
Do i need to use the "Install configuration option"? What if I don't use it and just activate?
-
Step 4 is done, failover and upgrade the other device & sync them.
-
Did i miss anything critical in this process? These are production boxes and i'm so concerned about the upgrade to be successfull.
Any help is greatly appreciated!_Thanks in advance_

Hi PK, by default the big-ip installs the configuration of the active boot location on the target installation location:

Read the Release Notes and be aware of what has changed, e.g. HTTP Class is not supported from 11.4 on
