Upgrade F5 BIGIP

Dear Team,

I hope you all doing well.

Kindly note that i want to upgrade my bigip tenant from 17.1.1.3 Build 0.70.5 to new 17.1.2 and when i try to download the software there are several options.

17.1.2
17.1.2_Tenant_F5OS

and i want to know what are the difference between these two ?

Just to let you know my setup is like this  rSeries2600--->F5OS----->BIGIP.

can you please clearly let me know which one shall i follow ?and what are the use cases ? is both ways valid for my setup ?

Please find the attached the picture and also the URL below.

appreciate your support.

Regards,

  • The "_tenant_F5OS" image is for deploying a NEW tenant from F5OS.  To upgrade, you import the usual ISO with just the version number just like with previous hardware.

  • Dear Community,

I have also contacted the F5 team and opened a support case.

    here is the output

17.1.2_Tenant_F5OS is usually used for fresh installation like when you have brand new f5 tenant and design.

17.1.2 is used for upgrade (i used this approach).

    Thanks for all your anwsers.

  • Dear Paulius  and Teerarat ,

Kindly note that i have rSeries 2600 series which have F5OS installed on it and also can have only one big-ip tenant no more.

So still i need to chose 17.1.2_Tenant_F5OS image ?

Also can you clearify more to tell me specfically which file shall i download ?

    17.1.2
    17.1.2_Tenant_F5OS

    Thanks.

    Regards,

  • Ollie_Alderson the Tenant_F5OS I believe is the version you would have when you have several tenants on an F5OS device and the one with that in the name is for a traditional F5 device such as the F5 LTM/GTM, APM, AFM, and so on that isn't a virtual device running on the F5OS host device. Based on your description I believe you would need the Tenant version.
