ucs import fails

Hi all,

I am trying to transfer full configuration from a LTM 3600 to another. Both of the boxes are running on 10.2.1 . Basically i generate an ucs file from one box and planing to import that one to the other. The ucs includes certificate files / irules and long configuration. The hostnames are matching which means full synchronization should happen. ( I have a backup of the licence and regkey in temp folder and i ve put them back after the ucs installation ) I do the operation from command line but i get the error message below. As far as i checked, I have most of the configuration in place but i need to find a proper and permanent solution to this problem.

I will try sync to peer iso importing ucs as a further step.

any advice will be appreciated.

  • after replacing the backup license, have u done "bigstart restart"? it is required.

    steps should look like this.

    1, restore ucs

    2, replace the backup license

    3, bigstart restart

    cheer!

Thanks for quick reply :) Actually i don't have a license problem now. The box is up and running and accessible. The only problem is i wonder if some config is missing as the ucs installation has failed. ( the box i imported the ucs had no config on it before the import ).

    Thanks !

i don't think so. to me, it looks like license problem. all config should already be there. :-)

I checked the config deeply and looks fine as you said the problem might be license related. I ve also tried to import the ucs to another box before but it failed and not accessible via GUI. ( got stuck on "Configuration Utility restarting" ) When i connect via ssh i get the error "emerg logger: Re-starting tomcat" continuously. I restarted the box several times but still getting the error. I want to try to import a previous backup usc from command line but i am not sure how can i do this on tmos. Please advice,, Thanks !!

was there any suspicious in log e.g. /var/log/daemon.log, /var/log/tomcat4?

I tried to run commands but tmos shell is something new i guess. I could not find any cli ref. The user i use is set to tmsh as default which makes the situation worse.

I captured the output below when i run "show system" Looks odd : /

  • u want to restore ucs by tmsh, don't u?

if so, have u seen sol11318. there is tmsh section there.
