SMTP Server -> Queued in the outgoing mail

Hi, I've configured Link Controller at one of the customer, everything is working fine as incoming and outgoing traffic except the SMTP server for outgoing mail traffic (At SMTP server there queued while sending the outside mails), i have configured dynamic nat for outgoing taffic of mail (using iRule).Issue is there is multiple queued of outgoing mails in the SMTP Server, but when i removed the dynamic NAT rule and used SNAT Automat, it started working fine. I dont understand why its not wroking. Incoming is working fine.

Regards...Jay Shankar

  • Jay, in your case why smtp is not working cause of snat configuration. Client ip needs to be preserved in this case, which offcorse is not happening as u have snat enabled. So now I can suggest you couple of ways to make it work. Make a new van, place your servers one by one if they r in clustered mode to prevent outage to your customers in this new van, default gw on these servers be the self ip of ltm, no snat configuration, that's all. In case if Two arm configuration is not going easy for you, Then staying in one arm you can take advantages of smtp proxy irule to inject and modify the clear text protocol smtp to preserve the original source. Your post looks like a week old, let me know if it's resolved by now

Thanks Ravi, i got the solution...actually there was not configuration nor dynamic nat issue, i didn't get any strange logs on BIGIP, so its' little tough to say anything on it. its' working fine now on same configuration.

Hi, The problem may be generate by ARP issue. the issue can appear again after failover. I got an issue like that in version 11.4 when Virtual server and SNAT pool share the same virtual address... disabling ARP in SNAT translation list resolved my issue...
