Retrieve SSO APM username from the target URL

A user is redirected to a federated services login link such as https://adfs.mysite.com/adfs/ls/login?username=blah&some=morestuff

 

I want to put a multi-domain SSO access policy in front such that they are redirected and prompted to login at https://sso.mysite.com/my.policy

 

How do I tap into the username=blah in the initial URL via my access policy in order to pre-populate the username field?

    I have done something similar by setting a cookie named "username" on the first reply and then updating 

    logon.inc
    with the javascript function call 
    document.getElementById('input_1').value = cookie.read(name) || '';
