Sep 24, 2007Obey default browsers
Hey Gang,
Just a small feature request.. Any chance we could please get iRule Editor to obey Windows default browser rather that enforcing Internet Explorer?
Pretty please ?
Thanks,
Andy
- The editor looks in the HKCR\http\shell\open\command key in the registry to find the default browser to use. When I wrote this, this was where it was stored in WinXP. It seems in Vista this is not the case. I'll try to dig out where in the registry that value is stored and make the change.
- Looks like it's in HKCU\Software\Clients\StartMenuInternet or HKLM\Software\Clients\StartMenuInternet. I'm making the changes to the editor as I type. I'll try to get an updated build online early this week.

Any chance you can give the user the option of choosing the browser to use? I have IE set as my default browser as it's what I need to test our application in, but for the links in the editor that I use I'd rather have them open in Firefox. Any chance that you can make the browser it uses customizable (like, an option for using the default or an option to specify your own)?
