Monitoring nodes - Logs
Hello,
We have a number of tomcats protected by F5s. We have it configured such that the F5 talks ONLY to one tomcat and if there is a problem, then the F5 will talk to the secondary one. In the past few days, at night there is a switch over by the monitor while talking to one tomcat switches over to the other tomcat. We can see that from the tomcat logs. We would like to know what has caused the F5 to switch from talking to one tomcat to the other. Which logs can we view to find the exact timestamp of the failover and the reasons ?

Monitor and pool member status events will show up in the LTM log (/var/lof/ltm). The reason for a monitor failure is generally implied by the monitor itself. If an icmp monitor fails a pool member, it's most likely because the pool member didn't respond to a set of pings.
