iCall Handler Periodic

Hi there, is it only possible to have a X seconds interval set on the handler? I was wondering if it can be more granular similar to the crontab. Or would I have to do this check then in my script then? (ie. it should run on Saturdays and Sundays) Or are there any plans to enhance the handler capabilities?
