How many VLANs do I need for vCMP clustering to work ?
Hello,
Two BIG-IP 5250v will be installed in HA mode, with 3 vCMP Guests. After reading the vCMP documentation, I am a bit lost in the way I have to define VLANs and IP addresses for Failover, ConfigSync and Communication Mirroring.
I refer to the following table in the vCMP for Applicance Models, Administration, version 11.16 :
My questions are :
Q1 : Do I need DEDICATED Vlans for Failover, ConfigSync and Communication Mirroring ( total of 9 Vlans) ? Q2 : Can I share a Vlan for the 3 Guests pairs ?
Thank you for your help

You don't NEED dedicated vlans for each service - you could just use any existing vlans e.g. internal. I always create a HA vlan dedicated to those 3 services and not routable. You can share vlans between the guests. Any vlans on the host can be presented to any/all guests.

Many thanks for your fast answer, this helps a lot ! Just another detail on the IP addressing, does an vCMP guest have a separate IP address for each of these 3 services or just one IP address on the non-routed Vlan for Failover, ConfigSync and communication mirroring ?
Thanks again

You can use the same address for all three purposes.
