GTM resolution and LTM vs addresses

I'm confused on DNS resolution via a GTM wip. LTM & GTM exist on single box on a DMZ with rfc1918 addressing and NAT performed by a firewall. What's necessary for the LTM vs to operate on rfc1918 address but GTM resolve to a public nat address of the firewall?

 

Version 13.0 - so technically DNS not GTM.

    You need to configure the virtual servers manually in the GTM. When adding the virtual server you give the private and public IP, the GTM knows which one to use to answer DNS request and when ask for virtual server status to the LTM.
