Dynamic ratios after failover. What happens to em?

I've written some iControl code that runs on each node in a pool. It changes its own dynamic ratio setting as TCP connections come in. This works great. However, if the primary LB goes down and fails over, I assume the dynamic ratio state will be lost. Am I correct? I think so. I think there's a way out of this problem, since each node in the pool knows it's own ratio. If the nodes could detect that the failover happened, i could force an iControl call to refresh the ratio table.

Q) Is there a way to tell that a LB failover happened?

Thanks.

  • Perhaps post the irules that you are using, that may help a bit, but it sounds like you are dealing with session mirroring, there are a ton of posts regarding this, not sure if it will answer your question, but it's worth a shot. All data on a VIP is mirrored to the standby unit. This can be expensive and should be used with care, meaning, if you have requirements for mirroring use it, if not, leave it alone since it can hog up resources.

This is far less of an issue on the larger appliances (e.g. 6400-6800 and greater).
