Correct persistence profile using load balancing IBM Sametime servers

I am not familiar with the Sametime application but what are the requirements for persistence. There are other more well defined forms of persistence such as UIE based on a particular string. is the intention to keep users from the same external IP to the same backend service? If you provide the app requirements i might be able to provide you with a preferred persistence method.
