Can we deploy GTM between 02 sites for automatic failover ?

We have 02 sites namely Primary and DR site. Primary site will be active for all traffic but we want our DR site to take over in case of outage/disaster of primary site. Do we need GTM in this scenar...

Hi,

 

The recommended deployment is:

 

  • GTM communication must be done by external IPs
  • both GTM must be configured as DNS server for every DNS zones
  • each wideIP load balancing method must be Global availability with primary site VS as first

when a client DNS request one of GTM:

 

  • if GTM 1 is available and VS of primary site is available, DNS response will be with primary site VS
  • if GTM 1 is available and VS of primary site is unavailable, DNS response will be with DR site VS
  • if GTM 1 is unavailable and VS of primary site is available, DNS response will be with DR site VS
  • if GTM 1 is unavailable and VS of primary site is unavailable, DNS response will be with DR site VS

You can configure link object to detect lose of Internet Link (useful if GTM communication is with internal IPs)
