Big-IP VE VNIC interfaces

Hi experts,

 

I am currently simulating 2 LTMs and 2 GTM in my home esxi environment. I was testing shutting down the switchport interface and disabling the VNIC on esxi command line and also unchecking the NIC when VE is powered on, to my surprise even if I shutdown the switchport interface connecting to my F5 (let say to my Data interface), tried disabling the vnic and even tried unchecking it, I noticed that my F5 VE interface under Network >> Interface remained in the "UP" state. I was expecting it will go down but didn't.

 

Anyone know what I am missing here?

    I tested in my lab, and if I uncheck the connect check box for one of the F5 interfaces, it goes down.

     

    I am using esxi version 6.7.0, and a F5 VE version 14.1.0.

     

    If you are using the default ova settings for the interfaces when you create the F5 VE, I don't know what is wrong.
