APM, Citrix, and mobiles

Hi All,

 

 

I've been working through setting up Citrix and APM in the hopes of replacing our Citrix Web Gateway servers. We're running 11.2.0 HF2, XexApp 5, and I've primarily been testing with an Android running Citrix Receiver. I haven't seen much documentation for this on v11 using the latest iApp from devcentral, so was hoping that someone has had some success with it.

 

 

The droid client gives the error: General problem Try connecting again or contact your helpdesk for assistance.

    We've got it running on 11.1.0, took us a little bit to get it going too. Our issue was mainly due to two-factor auth, which had to be setup in a particular manner. Does it connect at all or does it fail before then, what kind of auth are you using? Could you post a copy of your VPE? I found it quite useful to enable debugging on APM.

    I do see a potential issue - please remove the SSO Credentials Mapping action and try Android again.

     

     

    If it does not work, please answer the following questions to help us guide you better:

     

     

    Did you configure the setup manually or using the iApp as the baseline, or was it all manual? What version of Android/Receiver are you using? Can you verify that a STREAM profile is applied to your virtual server(there should be one)? Is the certificate on the BigIP valid and properly signed/chained(hint - try to hit the BigIP VS from the Android browser and see if it complains about the cert being invalid to see if the clientSSL profile on the BigIP is setup properly).

     

     

    Based upon your answers to these, we'll determine the next steps.

     

     

     

  • Hi Michael,

     

    I did some more digging and I wasn't using a valid certificate. I created a valid one in our internal PKI, added the root cert to the device, and was able to successfully connect! I'll make sure to put a big red box around my notes regarding proper DNS entries :)

     

     

    For reference, I used the iApp "f5.citrix_xenapp_xendesktop.2012_06_27" as the baseline, so a stream profile was added automagically. I am running Android 4.0.4 (Galaxy Nexus), and Citrix Receiver 3.1.170 (latest available as of this writing). I also was able to successfully login and load apps on a MacBook Pro, which was not working prior to this change.
