Help needed to Explain what Vlan and Tunnel Traffic is for?
Hi, I am new to F5 and I am trying to configure a new virtual server. One of the parameters is the vlan and tunnel traffic, which by default is enabled on. help needed here to explain what is this for? If I configure my virtual server to have virtual address in VLAN_3, and I enable vlan traffic only on VLAN-3, does this mean only requests sourced from VLAN-3 network will be accepted by F5 ltm? Hi, i'm having some trouble about running an Virtual Server in front of a K3s ingress. I've setted up 4 virtual server, all point to the same destination address, but different port (different pool but final address is the same, only change the port) For Http/s, MQTT/s zero problem, but when i'm trying to redirect the http traffic using websocket i've several problem. Destination return several errors based on the Virtual Server tuning. Actually i've the virtual server configured in TCP with HTTP profile (Websocket enable both client and server) and in security profile i've created a wss security to allow * addresses (HTTP,HTTPS,WS,WSS) But when we try the application it return ERR_TRUNCATE_HEADERS. I've also create a new http profile based on the default, to increse the size of che Header Payload. Also no i'm not checking the payload, and ignore any possible malformed packet (just to let everything pass). On the application event log i can see all the request and i see the green thick so i suppose that everything is fine on the F5 side. How can i be sure of that? Is there a way to do extra check or am i missing something? Thank you guys. PaoloSolved1.7KViews0likes10CommentsTrying to assign a policy to a virtual server
i am trying to change policies on a virtual server, using the python sdk. i load the vs, i can load the existing policy on the vs, and delete it, but when i try to create a new policy for the vs, i get a 404 error saying that the policy cannot be found. ## load the virtual server vs = mgmt.tm.ltm.virtuals.virtual.load(name="serviceMain", partition ="partition", subPath = "subPath") ## load the policy. this works policy = mgmt.tm.ltm.policys.policy.load(name="pol_name", partition ="partition", subPath = "subPath") ## load existing policy from the vs and delete it. this works pol = vs.policies_s.policies.load(name="pol_name", partition ="partition", subPath = "subPath") pol.delete() ## create a new policy. this fails mgmt.tm.ltm.policys.policy.create(name="pol_name", partition ="partition", subPath = "subPath") i get this error: Text: '{"code":404,"message":"01020036:3: The requested policy (pol_name) was not found.","errorStack":[],"apiError":3}' the policy exists, and was loaded earlier in the script, but it can't be found. i have tried other methods of attaching the policy, and they have all failed. any ideas? thanks, -tSolved1.5KViews1like11CommentsLooking for Setup Advice
Hello, I am looking for some advise for setting up a F5 Big-IP that can accomplish the following things. I only have one public IP address but will be hosting muliple services. I am looking at setting up one VIP that's open to public with ports that are required then when hitting FQDN that it redirects to VIP that is hosting service. Example mysite1.domain.com goes to VIP 10.10.10.100, mysite2.domain.com goes to VIP 10.10.10.110, so on. Is this done by iRule, reverse proxy, or policy. What's the best pratice for setting something up like this. Thanks in advance for the help.Solved1.5KViews0likes8CommentsF5 - virtual server doesn't respond to ping request
Hi, I created a few virtual servers on F5 on my lab environment, I did it by the following steps: * created a monitors. * added the nodes. * created the pools and add to them the monitor and the nodes. * created the virtual servers and associated them the pools. on my "Network Map" I can see there are all up, But, when I ping to my virtual servers IP's , they don't respond. Can you help to troubleshot it - cause I didn't figure it out why.1.4KViews0likes5CommentsDo I need a self-ip in the same subnet as my virtual servers, or a VLAN ID?
Hi all. So my external self IP is in the 10.251.12.0/24 subnet and my virtual servers are in the 10.251.10.0/24 subnet. However, I can't ping any of my vIPs from the F5 itself or outside of that network. I noticed that if I put the vIP in the 10.251.12.0/24 subnet I can ping it from the F5 as well as outside of the network. It's like my F5 doesn't want to advertise my virtual servers. Am I missing configuration here? I do not have a VLAN defined for the virtual servers, nor do I have a self-IP in that range. Should I?1.3KViews0likes6CommentsNo response after added virtual server IP address as floating self-IP address
Hi, I have an F5 HA pair that serves several virtual servers. VS1: ip1 VS2: ip2 Now, the IP address of VS1 (ip1) was already defined as a floating self-IP, but I found out that the IP address of VS2 was not defined as a self-IP. So I added ip2 as a floating self-IP. From that moment on, no traffic was accepted on either ip1 or ip2. Moreover, when I add a floating self-IP (let's say ip3), the virtual servers stop accepting traffic. Any idea what can be causing this? Is it necessary to define the IP address of a virtual servers as a floating self-IP? Are there benefits of doing that? On other units I manage, I always first add the floating self-IP and then I add the virtual server on that IP address. I'm running version "BIG-IP 11.6.0 Build 0.0.401 Final" Thanks.Solved1.1KViews0likes12CommentsMaintenance page using iFiles
Hi, I'm trying to setup a maintenance page using iFiles. I have gone through the below link and configured iFiles, iFiles List and created an irule as mentioned below, https://devcentral.f5.com/articles/v111-ndashexternal-file-access-from-irules-via-ifiles iRule: when HTTP_REQUEST { if { [HTTP::uri] eq "/" } { HTTP::respond 200 content [ifile get api_asia_html] } else { discard } } However, after attaching the above iRule I cannot access the virtual server as it gets timed out. Not sure if I'm missing something in my irule, which calls an html page with images already embedded. Can anyone please verify my irule and let me know what I'm missing, so that anyone accessing this virtual server should see maintenance window page. Thanks in advance, MSKSolved1.1KViews0likes10Comments
