73 TopicsSteps to upgrade a vCMP host.
According to this article, the steps to upgrade a vCMP host are: Re-activate the host license. Shutdown the guests one at a time by setting the requested state to Configured. Proceed with the upgrade. Is this correct? I've also read (and been told) that you should set the guests to Provision before upgrading. So is it Configured or Provision?1.6KViews0likes5CommentsUnable to remove older software image from F5 guest
Hi When I try to remove this , it gives me an error and cannot remove them ( Data Input Error: Could not locate image "BIGIP-14.1.2.7-0.0.5.iso" ) What is the best way of removing older version of image from a F5 guestSolved1.5KViews0likes6Commentsreplacing blade 2100 to 2150 viprion c2400
greetings all, i am newbie on installing viprion series, my customer has viprion C2400 with existing blade 2100 which is end of life device, right now they have already purchase 2150 to replace the 2100. i have seen the linkReplacing a blade in a VIPRION system that has only one blade installed (f5.com), my question is, is it possible ifwe install the replacement blade inthe VIPRION chassis while leaving the existing blade in the chassis and let the cluster replicate the configuration to the replacement blade ? please advice thank youSolved1.4KViews1like6CommentsRight procedure to shutdown a Viprion system with vCMP
Hi there, I got a Viprion with two blades, vCMP and several guests, and I wonder which is the recommended procedure to shutdown the whole system. I don't know if it's enough with a "clsh shutdown -h now" at vCMP level or I should to do that same command in each guest before doing it in the vCMP system. As an alternative to doing a shutdown of each guest, I've read about using tmsh to change the state of all guests to provisioned before doing the shutdown of the vCMP system. Is this the preferred procedure instead of doing a "clsh shutdown" from inside the guest? Would it be differences between doing a shutdown on the guest or deprovisioning it from vCMP on boot time? I guess that if I deprovision a guest before shutting down the vcmp system, when I boot the system, the guest will be in deprovisioned state and I'll have to deploy it again, right? If I do a shutdown in the guest before the shutdown in the vcmp system, on boot time, what would be the guest state? I have to define the shutdown and boot procedures for a maintenance stop on our data center and I don't know which procedure would be the better. Thanks a lot.Solved899Views0likes7CommentsAdding Viprion Blade Management Address in Production
Hi every one. I have 2 Viprion with 2 blade cluster identic on each viprion. i have situation were when i create a new vcmp guest on Viprion02 and assign an ip address, that ip address is unreachable from the network (all other vcmp guest is reachable). When i checked on the bash linux for the mgmt address, there is no ip address were on the system-platform i can see the same ip address for the management. But this issue is not happen on Viprion01. I take a look for the viprion02 cluster blade. Only cluster IP is configured and No blade management ip is configured. Not like in Viprion01, All blade have its own management IP. I would like to add management ip address on Viprion02 blade. 1. Will there is an impact on the production? I have tried read about the viprion and assume it should not give any impact due to management ip is distinct with management blackplane were used for blade inter communication, traffic handling, and sync. 2. Which HA is that doc talking about? Blade HA is active active right? And Guest HA using its own management IP, not the blade management address. Thank You799Views0likes1CommentViprion. Multiple blades and vCMP. Mirroring options.
Hello Devs! I read on the oficial training guide that when you use vCMP, you do the mirroring on a guest basis. That makes sense to me. But what if you have like a c2400 with 4x2150. Does the mirror "within cluster" applies? root@(bigip1)(cfg-sync Standalone)(/S1-green-P:Active)(/Common)(tmos) list sys db statemirror.clustermirroring sys db statemirror.clustermirroring { value "within" } To me the mirror within cluster/between cluster only makes sense when we are talking about Viprions without vCMP. Am I right?! One more thing. If I had a c2400 chassis with 4x2150 blades with vCMP enabled. If I had only one vCMP guest with only one CPU and it was configured with the proper permissions to run on all four blades. If blade1 failed, would this vCMP guest automagically run on blade2 without any disruption? Or would the vCMP guest fail and re-start on blade2? Thanks! Hi, I wonder if anyone had issue vCMP guest VM failure on one slot. I have three slot Viprion with guests set to all slots. After upgrade guest started but the guest VM on slot 2 failed. So now guest is running only on two slots. Slot 2 VM seems to be completely dead: No way to SSH using this slot member IP ssh slot 2 from slot 1 not working vconsole [guest name] 2 from host not working I was not able to test tmsh reboot slot 2 from guest slot 1 (Primary) but I highly doubt it will work. Sure I will try reboot guest chassis (like tmsh reboot slot all ) but what if slot 2 VM will not boot again? Any proven procedure? My idea is to: Change guest state to configured Disable guest on slot 2 Change state to provisioned - according to info collected: VM will be deleted vdisk will be preserved I think vdisk on slot 2 should be removed - hope can be done via host GUI vCMP ›› Virtual Disk List After clean up: Change state to configured Enable guest on all slots (original setting) Change state to provisioned, I assume that: VM will be created vdisk will be copied from primary slot Change state to deployed Should it work? Any better/safer way? Piotr699Views0likes2CommentsMove to standby all vcmps to update HOST (VIPRION)
Hello, Is there a way to force all vcmps to standby? I have 2 VIPRION and I want to re-license one of them previous to upgrade the BIG-IP version running on it. So I need to move all guests from one Host to other VIPRION to prevent loss of service. Running the following command you can see the state; active or standby, for all vcmps: # tmsh show vcmp | sed '/Vcmp::Guest Prompt/,/^$/!d' I´m trying to failover from HOSTA to HOSTB all guest with status: /Sn-green-P:Active. Is this possible?689Views0likes0CommentsViprion Upgrade - How to make sure existing config is copied
Hi, We've got a number of Viprions (No vCMP, 1 blade) which I need to upgrade from 11.4.1 to 11.5.1. However when I get to the Boot Locations the option to copy config is greyed out and set to no. As these boxes are in a remote location, with no serial connectivity I don't really want to reboot without the existing config being copied over (especially the bigip_base.conf). Surprised that there isn't a SOL document (that I can find!) which explains the situation as having the config not come over is a major issue (and drawback). Can somebody confirm the precises steps to carry out to upgrade a Viprion and make the config move over as well. Many thanks in advance631Views0likes8Comments
