The requested pool member xxxxx was not found.
Problem description: We recently upgraded our F5 and then discovered an LTM HA pair of F5's with the SCOM F5 MP. The discovery was successful and everything "appears" to be working with the exception of a bunch of re-occuring error 01020036 messages. The message indicates that a pool member was not found however the pool member is present and working just fine. Hi All, Recently installed the F5 Management Pack as per the WIKI guide (RMS first then the Management Server to be used for F5 discovery/monitoring). Today we attempted our first discovery of an F5 device and as we wanted to confirm whether or not the big3d agent might be upgraded and possibly cause some impact we chose to discover the standby node of our F5 load balancers. One of the F5 Administrators used his account named account which is a member of the Administrator role on the F5 appliances to perform the discovery task on the management server. The discovery completed successfully and eventually the device appeared in the appropriate F5 Management Pack state view with a green tick. I then noticed, however, an alert in the SCOM Console's Active Alerts view relating to the F5 Management Pack Monitoring Service on the designated Management Server that the discovery was performed on. If I expand the Health Explorer for the F5 Monitoring Service on this Management Server I can see the following roll-ups are Critical: +Entity Health +Availability +Data Layer +Operations Manager Connections: - F5.MonitoringService (F5 management Pack Monitoring Service) +Data Source Server - F5.MonitoringService (F5 Management Pack Monitoring Service) +Operations Manager Connector - F5.MonitoringService (F5 Management Pack Monitoring Service) Clicking on the bottom two unit monitors to see what Knowledge text they have shows nothing and the State Change history tab is as follows: +Data Source Server - F5.MonitoringService (F5 Management Pack Monitoring Service) Description: The PerformanceDataSourceConnector connection to Operations Manager Health Service host localhost was lost: Failed to connect to an IPC Port: The system cannot find the file specified. +Operations Manager Connector - F5.MonitoringService (F5 Management Pack Monitoring Service) Description: The PerformanceDataSourceConnector connection to Operations Manager Health Service host localhost was lost: Failed to connect to an IPC Port: The system cannot find the file specified. In the Active Alerts view there is also the error named, "F5 Monitoring Service data Source Singleton error" and the Path of this error is the Management Server from which the discovery task was run. The Description text for this error states: "The F5 Monitoring Service data source been loaded multiple times. " The Knowledge text state: Summary The F5 Monitoring Service data source been loaded multiple times. Configuration Configuration of threshold and performance data rule overrides is part of Operations Manager override interface. Causes This most frequently occurs when rule overrides for thresholds or performance data collection are targeting incorrect objects. Resolutions Please attempt to fix or reset your rule overrides for thresholds and performance rules. Additional Information For additional information about the F5 Management Pack rule overrides, refer to the Management Pack Rule Override Wiki at: http://devcentral.f5.com/wiki/default.aspx/MgmtPack/PerformanceCollectionAndMonitoring.html External Knowledge Sources External knowledge sources. http://devcentral.f5.com/mpack At this stage no additional configuration has been done to any rules or collectors for performance or availability monitoring. The only thing that has ben done is to discover the device and let whatever default object discovery tasks are enabled to run to see what gets populated. Our plan is to turn-on any desired performance and object discoveries as required once we get the Active node into the configuration. However, before we get to that I would like to understand and fix this f5 Monitoring Service data Source Singleton error. So, if anyone can explain the meaning of this error and how it can be resolved I would bemost grateful. Is the error just the F5 Management Pack's way of saying we need to configure overrides if we expect to get any meaningful monitoring of the devices? Do I simply need to restart the F5 Monitoring Service on the Management Server resolve this? Thanking you for your considered reply, flipa800Views0likes20CommentsDisplaying Real-time statistics for a pool or virtual server
Hi: Can somebody post the command for displaying Real-time statistics for a pool or virtual server? I understand bigtop can do it but can it continuously display the real time statistics for a specific pool or virtual server? I need to monitor specific pool and virtual server and want to see the real-time statistics for those through command line. Thanks in advance, Ijaz799Views0likes5CommentsBIG3D
We have an LTM running 10.2.3.112 code. We ran the big3d -v command and get the following: root@rndltmcore:Active] config big3d -v big3d version big3d Version 10.2.3.112.0 for linux We attempted discover this LTM with the upgrade box unchecked and it failed. We ran the discovery again with the box checked and it succeeded . The log message indicated that the big3d was upgraded to 1.4. However, when we run the big3d -v command again, we get the following: [root@rndltmcore:Active] config big3d -v big3d version big3d Version 10.2.3.112.0 for linux What is concerning is that SCOM MGMT Pack told us it upgraded the big3d, but the LTM does not reflect that. We also know that when we upgrade the big3d, it will interrupt the communication between GTM's and LTM's, which will affect load balancing for that period. It will also affect communication between Enterprise manager and GTM's and LTM's as they are being discovered. We also know that when we do a code upgrade with a new ISO, it will replace the big3d that was manually upgraded. This could potentially impair SCOM monitoring. Looking for feedback, or comments on this subject.758Views0likes8CommentsSCOM F5 Objects Not Consistent with Objects on F5
We have been working with the F5 management pack for a while in our DEV environment and have just set it up in QA. In both environments, we have noticed that the objects that are discovered in SCOM are not always consistent with the objects that have been added to the F5. For instance, there are Virtual Servers and pools that are on the F5 and are taking traffic that aren't discovered in SCOM. Other Virtual Servers are discovered but their status is forever "Unmonitored". We have also found pools in SCOM that contain old pool members that use to be in pool on the F5 but aren't any more. We are using management pack 1.5.1.287. We want to get this fixed. It is not acceptable for us to put this management pack into our production environment if it is going to produce unreliable results. Please get back to us a your earliest convienence.661Views0likes36Commentsdiscovery problem!!!
Hello everybody, the problem is we can't discovery network F5 object by Management Pack of SCOM (System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2). The version of Management Pack is 2.1.5.440. The SCOM environment is installed on Windows Server 2008 v6.0 build 6002 SP2 with DB on SQL Server 2008. The service account with start F5 Service on RMS, is the same of SQL DB F5_ManagementPack (is a user with Global Admin rights). In the customer environment there are two Viprions (in cluster) with two blade per chassis. On the Viprion there is LTM software version 10.0.1 HF4. The problem is: When the Discover Devices Wizard of F5 Management Pack perform discovery appliances on the network, we insert the IP address and the credentials of BIGIP GUI (f.i. admin, admin or an user with Administrator Role) it shown the error in attachment (error event Windows - SCOM). We try the same operation this time with ROOT credentials and the software perform the error in attachment (error event Windows - ROOT). We try also to connect to the Viprion appliances by telnet on port 443 and 4353 (iControl). The firewall doesn't block this port, there is a rule "ad-hoc". We connect correcty with browser to web service of iControl on the appliance ( ) and insert admin credentials. We enter correctly. This test we performed on the machine with RMS installed. Summary: 1) The SCOM environment is integrated with Active Directory, and perform discovery with an user of AD (with Admin right on the local server with SCOM installed); 2) On the Viprion web GUI there is local basic authentication (default) and not AD integrated. Does exist a best practice to configure SCOM discover with a local user of Viprion? Can we configure on Viprion level authentication with AD only for the monitoring? Could you help me, please??? Thanks in advance Fabrizio.646Views0likes15CommentsF5 Monitoring Agent Issues
I cannot get the Monitoring agent to run correctly I am using SCOM 2007 R2, on Windows 2008, with a SQL 2008 server. More info, I get errors in the F5 Management Event Log about - Requested registry access is not allowed. All the accounts have the admin access they need. The database is created in SQL, the account the F5 agent is running under is an admin for SCOM, SQL and the machine. Any ideas?612Views0likes15CommentsManagement Pack - Download/Licensing Update
Hi all- At this time, we’ve decided to stop providing the free Management Pack downloads as well as any new licenses. This is part of a larger plan that we can’t fully share details about at this point. I can say that there is a defined roadmap that has investment, is supported, and looks to offer a better overall solution for our users. Otherwise, we wouldn’t make this decision. (Candidly, I’ve seen the plan and it’s pretty damn cool. But, you’ll have to wait just a little while for more details.) If you want to be one of the first to be notified when we can share more, we encourage you to fill out this form: (http://devcentral.f5.com/Community/ManagementPackInformationRequest/tabid/1084234/Default.aspx). While we completely understand and appreciate that some folks will be frustrated, we strongly believe that this will lead to a better overall management offering for customers. In the meantime, we’ll be sharing details about migration strategy, support options, and more. But, this is what I can say right now and I hope this helps explain the absence of forum participation. Bottom line is that we truly appreciate all of the organizations using the Management Pack not to mention community members here at DevCentral. We’re committed to helping as much as we can, in the near and long term, and hope you’ll watch this space for more details. I hope this helps provide at least a little insight at this point. Please feel free to post your questions and we’ll do our best to answer as much as we can. Best regards, Jeff607Views0likes5CommentsF5 Event 806
