Replace server hostname with DNS name

I have serveral DNS names setup that point to my virtual server - an irule directs clients to a pools based on the DNS name. I have two hosts in each of the pools - when the user clicks on the logon link for the Oracle 11i ebusiness app it now displays the server host name instead of the original DNS name used - we do not want the users saving favorites to the server host names behind the F5 - we want the F5 to load balance. Using an irule, how can I change the server hostname back to the original DNS name? how can I stop the user from seeing the server hostname.

Thank you

  • Hello,

Can you post your current rule and obfuscated examples of what URLs the client requests and is redirected to?

  • I'm sorry if I was unclear - I'm very new to LTMs and this forum. I a DNS name; in this case http://ora-dev1. Which gets directed to a pool that has 2 member servers.

Once at the login page we start to see the name of the server: http://servername.mycompany.com:8016/OA_HTML/AppsLocalLogin.jsp?requestUrl=APPSHOMEPAGE&cancelUrl=http%3A%2F%2Fservername.mycompany.com%3A8016%2Foa_servlets%2Foracle.apps.fnd.sso.AppsLogin

I would like to replace servername.mycompany.com with http://ora-dev1

I'm not sure how to accomplish this with an irule.

  • No I did not realize that - Oracle is new for this company - I will talk with the developers.

    Thanks again.
