Platform-migration and management-ip address change

Hi There, As part of a migration process, there is a change in the management ip-address for the destination device but the host-name remains the same. I'm planning to migrate from BiGip 4000 chassis to i5000 chassis. Has anyone done this type of migration in the past where the management ip-address has changed and how it got fixed. The current setup uses HA.

I'm aware this breaks the trusts between the devices. What other challenges that will encountered and how have they got resolved.

Please share your experiences.

  • Perform the change on weekend during a maintenance window.
    1. Take UCS backup of existing production devices
    2. Configure network configurations of new devices with new Management IP and disable all interfaces except maangement IP
    3. Now import UCS file on new standby device using below command

    tmsh load /sys ucs no-license

    1. Once you import UCS file change the management IP address to new IP address.

    2. Verify all congifurations are in place

    3. Now perform step 3 to 5 on new active device.

    4. Once all configurations are in place on new F5 devices.

    5. During the maintenance window disable all interfaces on old devices and simultaneoulsy enable on new devices

    6. Clear ARP entries on connected switches for the subnets.

    Issues:

During UCS import you may face encyption key issues. Eg: Tacacs password etc.. You need to nullify them Make sure both licenses are having similar moules on both the devices.
