What is the hostname used for?

Hello,   Doing a setup of new bigips and I need to add a hostname. What is the hostname/host ip used for? I picked 'use management port IP' for Host address.   We would like heartbeat and clust...

I think so too

 

If I have hostname "bigip-01.f5.com"

 

and mgmt IP is default [192.168.1.245]

 

and host ip is [10.10.10.10]

 

I can't do anything with 10.10.10.10 either manage or ping or else. dns lookup is not found too.

 

What host ip use for?
