Oct 23, 2007Verifying MD5sums
Hi all,
I am trying to upgrade our LTM's from 9.4.0 to 9.4.1
Following the instructions in the Release Notes, it says the best way is to use the local-install.im file.
I have downloaded that and the MD5sum, but I cannot get the values to match.. the instructions say to download again, but after 5 or 6 tries I still get different results..
I'm downloading the files to my laptop, then FTPing them to the F5. Is there something obvious that i'm missing?
Thanks!

I would guess you're tranferring the IM file using ascii mode for FTP. Type 'bin' once you open the FTP connection to change to binary mode for transferring the file.
You can also download an md5sum tool for Windows to make sure the copy you have on your laptop is valid.

Sorry, should have mentioned in my original post that I was using binary mode for the FTP's.
Have also downloaded 'md5sums' for Windows now, and can test the checksums on my laptop.
I think I have found the problem. If I download the files from tech.f5.com using FTP (as they recommend) then the filesizes are anything from 60KB to 100KB, but when using HTTP they are the correct 350MB-ish..
Maybe this is browser-related? All you get on the site is a link, so maybe the browser is using ASCII instead of Binary?
Up and running now though, cheers!
