v 9.4.5 to v 10.2.0 upgrade

Hi guys,

I am in the middle of upgrade process where I am upgrading from 9.4.5 to 10.2.0 (partitions to volumes).

There are two partitions HD1.1 and HD1.2, HD1.2 being active. Below are the steps I followed.

1. Created the necessary UCS, bigip.licence, etc... backups.

2. Copied the 10.2.0 iso file to the /shared/images. Ran the command

image2disk --instslot=HD1.1 --format=volumes BIGIP-10.2.0.1707.0.iso and presented with this error.

Unknown option: format

image2disk -h - Does not show the format option.

3. Since I am upgrading from 9.4.x version I tried copying the new installation utility using the command

im BIGIP-10.2.0.1707.0.iso

info: ....

info: ....

The im utility is no longer used to upgrade software images.

Please use 'image2disk'. For help, use 'image2disk -h'.

You must always install to an image location that is not in use.

Here is your current image-location status:

Unexpected error. See log (/var/log/user.log)

HD1.1 active no default no title BIG-IP 9.4.5 Build 1049.10

HD1.2 active yes default yes title BIG-IP 9.4.5 Build 1049.10

/var/log/user.log reads:

----

debug: new temp mount dir /mnt/n95FcOxKVP created for hda.dat.boot

ERROR (24320): executing command: /sbin/vgscan

++++ result:

vgscan -- LVM driver/module not loaded?

----

Any inputs on this?

Thanks,

B

  • Hi,

I am having one ltm 1600 running on 10.2.2 version and the peer device is running on 10.2.1 version and thats why both are not in sync so customer wants to downgrade the ltm 1600 from 10.2.2 to 10.2.1 so thats why we have dowloaded the 10.2.1 iso image from website and copied it in a folder of my laptop.

Now i want to downgrade this ltm from 10.2.2 to 10.2.1, so please help me in this case and provide the steps to downgrade the system by both browser based configuration utility and cli.
  • Hi,

If you need immediate help you should open a case with F5 Support.

If you're using volumes on 10.x you should be able to install 10.2.1 to a new slot from the GUI. You can check the 10.2.1 release notes for detailed instructions.
