Upgrading vApp LTM CPU / Memory
Hello
We have several vApp LTM 11.6 running on our test VMware servers. When initially deployed they were just deployed from the template and default 8GB / 2vCPU were taken along with the default disk allocation.
As our requirements changed, we needed more cpu/memory to provision additional modules (AFM AAM etc) so we simply shutdown the vApps and allocated 16GB / 8vCPU (4 sockets / 2 cores) - all was good. These were picked as they were the closet offering from our hosting providers.
We have since asked our hosting providers to upgrade our hosted vApps to the same memory/cpu however, they have said that we should backup our current installations and allow them to redeploy the vApps from templates with the new memory/cpu settings and for us to restore from backups.
The reason they gave was "the paging file file created at deployment time with a smaller footprint will not match the actual machine size and will be in an unsupported configuration"
Appart from the hassle of having to backup/restore and re-license the vApp - are they correct? Will the vApp not actually change the page file for the new memory allocation?
Is there a supported way of upgrading memory/cpu for a vApp?
Many thanks
Tony
