Upgrading from 11.6.0 to 12.1.2HF1 guide

There won't be any difference between virtual and physical appliance upgrade.

 

I dont have any specific guide but i can suggest few things ,

 

  1. Have .ucs configuration file backup on your local machine before the upgrade. (System->Archives->Create)
  2. Upload a QKView onto https://ihealth.f5.com (System->Support->QKView->Start)
  3. Have a case open with F5, let them know when you are doing the upgrade and most importantly ask them if you are eligible for the upgrade considering your license.

  4. Service check & License re-activation https://support.f5.com/csp/article/K7727

     

    • License check date must be older than the service check date before upgrading. There is good chance of configuration failure without this condition. (From CLI, run command “tmsh show sys license”).

5. Download image files and hotfix from https://downloads.f5.com

 

  1. Upgrade standby device first and after successful upgrade , failover the device and upgrade the other one. (This applies if you have a HA pair)

     

  2. Continue with your test plan.
