Hello All,
Could someone please explain me what is the "UNIT ID" option while creating "Floating IPaddress".
Thanks,
Reni

Hi Reni,
I think the unit IDs only come into play when you're running in active-active mode. In that case, the unit IDs tell each LTM which shared objects to use. For active-standby pairs, the unit ID is ignored.

Thanks for the reply Aaron. This option is not optional while configuring through GUI interface.
I have a active-standby configuration and while configuring i have Unit-1, it is working fine. But i still dont understand what this option.
My guess was that " when we try to access the floating IPaddress it takes us to primary node which is Unit -1, so if we change to Unit-2 it will take to secondary unit :-) " - hoolio

Basically, if your units are configured in active-standby, you can leave the unit ID for the units themselves and any shared objects like self IP's to whatever they're set at by default. The settings aren't used.
