stream necessay?

I want to use STREAM::expression to replace data in HTTP request   is STREAM profile needed applied in virtual server?   is stream:enable needed to set following stream::expression?

No need for any strings in the profile but one must be applied to use Stream in an iRule. I'd agree that seems to be your only option.
