SNMP Specific Trap being alerted
Hi all,
I've recently deployed a new F5 virtual guest on a C2400 VIPRION. There are times when our 3rd party SNMP manager receives alerts from this F5 guest with, "Unknown Specific Trap Number (135) Received for Enterprise .1.3.6.1.4.1.3375.2.4". If we configure the manager to ignore these alerts, can this affect other OID's that are falls under this hierarchical strutcture? For example this OID represents: bigipNotifications
Underneath the bigipNotifications are individual OID's such as bigipagentstart, etc. So if we configure our manager to ignore this particular alert, we don't want to also ignore everything that is underneath the tree. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

OK, so have you had a look through the MIB to see what that particular one is? You can download it from the into page on the LTM. A good number of third party SNMP monitors have a MIB import function, so you won't get unknowns. I wouldn't suggest ignoring a branch of the tree just because the monitor can't recognize the OID. YMMV.

So I downloaded the MIBs from F5. I've looked throught the different MIB files and doesn't look like I can find this particular OID:1.3.6.1.4.1.3375.2.4. All it references is "bigipNotifications," which is at the top of the hierarchical tree. My question is if we configure the snmp manager to ignore this particular OID, would the trap also ignore everything beneath the tier of 1.3.6.1.4.1.3375.2.4?
