I've recently deployed a new F5 virtual guest on a C2400 VIPRION. There are times when our 3rd party SNMP manager receives alerts from this F5 guest with, "Unknown Specific Trap Number ...

Sep 18, 2013OK, so have you had a look through the MIB to see what that particular one is? You can download it from the into page on the LTM. A good number of third party SNMP monitors have a MIB import function, so you won't get unknowns. I wouldn't suggest ignoring a branch of the tree just because the monitor can't recognize the OID. YMMV.

So I downloaded the MIBs from F5. I've looked throught the different MIB files and doesn't look like I can find this particular OID:1.3.6.1.4.1.3375.2.4. All it references is "bigipNotifications," which is at the top of the hierarchical tree. My question is if we configure the snmp manager to ignore this particular OID, would the trap also ignore everything beneath the tier of 1.3.6.1.4.1.3375.2.4?
