Slowness observed using BIGIP VE
Hi All,
We have created 2 V/S(VIP), One in BIGIP VE & another in Viprion Guest both are running on 11.4.1. V/S created in Viprion Guest is used as pool member to another V/S which is created in BIGIP VE. So cleints are directly connecting to V/S in BIGIP VE to access the sftp services.
when our platform team is trying to download some files using this V/S, they are observing slowness. Each download is taking around 15 to 20sec & in total it is taking around 6min to complete the each test.
So do we see this slowness because of BIGIP VE? Does the speed improve If we create the V/S in Viprion Guest instead of BIGIP VE?

I don't think this is due to the VE, especially not on the Viprions.
Have you examined the link speed on the hosts? You could also try to download the files directly from the guest using curl to exclude the client side network.
Have you set the TCP profiles to wan/lan optimized (depending on the type of communications)? Not that it should make THAT big of a difference as you mentioned, but it never hurts.

Thanks Patrik for the reply. By changing profile to tcp-lan-optimized I can see some considerbale amount of difference(from 6min to 4min). But 4min again large amount of time compared to 12sec for the VIP on Viprion.
No problem Mahantesh!
You're running VCMP guests on a Viprion chassi, not in VMware right? How did the curl from the management interface go? Was it fast or slow?

Hi Patrik,
Yes. We are running VCMP Guests on Viprion chassis. Traffic flow is somehting like this. client ----> BigIp VE----->F5 Viprion----->Back end ppol members.
So when they accesses VIP on VE they are Observing the delay(Twice as that of VIP on VCMP Guest), But when they access VIP On VCMP guest download speed is good.
So you are asking me to run the curl command on VE or VCMP Guest?

I should have read your initial description more carefully. There are a few extra parameters when talkin VE as you are dependent on the licensed throughput, the hosts link capacity and usage.
What are the link speeds on the VE and what's your licensed throughput?
Check this under System -> License and Network -> Interfaces.
