Root password not recovered after procedure

Hi guys!

 

We have a 3600 Series running 11.4.1 version. We lost the "root" password and I have followed the steps on the well known procedure to recover the password (I have used it successfully a couple of times now) but when I finished the last step, still the password does not change.

After reboot, nothing. I even tried to reset "admin" using: 'passwd admin' after the mount -a command, but again: nothing.

 

The LCD screen in the appliance says "FORCED OFFLINE" not sure if that'll help but I'm running out of options here.

 

Any ideas???

    you can only reset root password with this procedure. Reboot the device, login to console with root user. Then change admin password ussing the following command: 

    tmsh modify auth user admin password
