restricting file extension access from particular folder using ASM

Hi Everyone,

I would like to ask the experts here a query related to ASM.... I have a very simple but tricky requirement.... in one of the policy I have allowed a no. of file types but I have a requirement where I need to block the allowed file types when the policy sees the directory e.g. _www.company.com/folder/*.jpg (Where as .jpg is already an allowed and should remain allowed for the rest also all other extentions with in the folder should be accessible aswell). I know I can create a disallowed URL but the problem is that it only allows explicit definition not wild card. I think this is very easy to achieve but couldn't figure out the way it should be done. Hoping to receive a quick guidance from experts.

Regards,

  • Try to create a manual signature.

if disallowed URL accept does not accept wildcards, I don't see another solution.

  • May not be efficient but could you make an irule that looks for the url starting with that directory and if it's true then it will check to see if the uri ends with .jpg and if so drop

  • What LTM policy can handle this... ?? secondly if i am going to bring it to the LTM level i will miss out the reporting details on the ASM level...
