MVPI would suggest looking at F5s partnership with Red Hat and Ansible automation for this. You can create a playbook to perform backups, throw the old config as a github commit, etc and then perform the change. Integration options exist to use a password vault (like Cyberark) and even email the status and/or cert/key copies post automation run.
