REST API + BigIP APM + LTM

I think the best place to start would be the iControlREST wiki page.

Take a look at the 101 sections, download the user guide, and test some of the codeshare examples. As for what it can do, very simply whatever you can do at the management command line with TMSH is what you can do with iControlREST, mostly anyway.

 

That depends on what version of BigIP you're running. 11.4.1 has SOME info. 11.5.1 has a lot more. None of the versions seem to be able to do stats yet on sessions for APM... Sadly...

To discover the API's available, just access the URL's e.g.

curl -uadmin:admin -v https://you.ltm.ip/mgmt/tm/apm

and

curl -uadmin:admin -v https://you.ltm.ip/mgmt/tm/ltm

(In theory accessing /mgmt/tm is supposed to give you a list of modules you can query. but I've not managed to get that to do anything on either 11.5.1 or 11.4.1

I had to run this: curl -k -uadmin:admin -v

 

The -k helped since I didnt have a SSL Cert attached to the F5 device yet.
